South Jerusalem is proud to announce that Gershom Gorenberg and Haim Watzman have been awarded this year’s Moskowitz Prize for Zionism . The award is given each year to people who act “for the benefit of the common good in order to ensure the strength and resilience of the national Jewish homeland.”
It’s a distinct pleasure that our efforts to save the country we love so dearly from some of its worst instincts have been recognized by a distinguished panel of judges that includes serous and original religious thinkers like Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis.
Past year’s winners, we should note, include some of this blog’s greatest fans, such as Hebron Jewish community leader Noam Arnon.
Honoring the request of the prize committee, we will be changing this blog’s name to “Deep East Jerusalem” and moving, with our families, to hilltop mansions in the Samarian highlands. Thanks, Irving, and happy Purim to you and yours!
Due to the infamous problems with conveying sarcasm on the internet, you may want to post some sort of satirical disclaimer on this post somewhere for the people that don’t bother clicking the link.
I would hate to have someone read an article about the Moskowitz prize somewhere and think, “oh yeah, that’s what those south jerusalem guys I like reading won.”
Congratulations! 😀
Ahaha! Happy Purim to you and yours!
Hey, I found some blue and white pom-pons and I am shaking them for ya!
actually, the BBC headline on a “Palestinian settlement” is the best inadvertent Purim joke this year: http://myrightword.blogspot.com/2010/03/meet-palestinian-settlement.html but the anti-Zionist Silverstein fell for the Ha-Ha-Haaretz Purim joke: http://www.israellycool.com/2010/02/28/purim-fool/
OK. I laughed!
Congratulations – well deserved. Even if it puts you in some odd company.
Oops. Now I get it. Duh. Can’t even remove my comment….
Finally an uplifting face of Zionism, be proud rather than cynical. A united Jerusalem, capital of the one Jewish state, will defy the terrorism of surrounding Arab neighbors.
